I was very disappointed to see the Tom Tom festival devote a headline event to cannabis/marijuana, describing it as “Virginia’s most exciting new industry.” As a physician who lived through the early days of the then nascent opioid crisis, these words seem strangely familiar.
Recreational marijuana is going to fuel the next hallucinogenic drug crisis in America — it’s easily predictable given what’s happening currently in Colorado and California.
Sadly, it is the entrepreneurs who put “profits over people,” and the politicians, who want the tax revenues, driving this craze. When will our business people, politicians and festival organizers do what is best for our society — and not what is best for them?
